The most anticipated food and wine event of the year returns to Siena.
WINE&SIENA 2024
On the weekend of January 26, 27, 28, and 29, 2024, the ninth edition of #WineandSiena will take place in the captivating setting of the Antico Spedale di Santa Maria della Scala in Siena.
The undisputed protagonists of this edition will be the numerous producers of Italian excellence, who through their wines and products will take you on a journey not only through flavors but also through the history, art, and culture of the region.
If you’re planning a weekend dedicated to taste, Borgo Grondaie offers a special package with a surprise.
To give an overview of the event, the previous edition of Wine&Siena had the pleasure of hosting 127 producers from all over Italy, with more than 600 wine labels selected by #thewinehunter. This ninth edition will be no different.
The event, as always conceived and organized by the Patron of the #meranowinefestival, Helmuth Köcher, immerses producers and visitors in a magical atmosphere inside the spacious, frescoed halls of Santa Maria della Scala, one of the oldest hospitals in Europe, founded in 1320 to provide shelter for pilgrims traveling along the Via Francigena.
Watch our exclusive interview with Helmut Köcher to discover all the news about Wine&Siena 2024.
The event location will not be limited to Santa Maria della Scala, with its stunning view of the Siena Cathedral, but will also extend to other historic buildings, including the Palazzo Comunale, where the traditional inaugural toast will take place, and the Grand Hotel Continental Siena – Starhotels Collezione, where the scheduled Masterclasses will be held.
The novelty of this edition of Wine&Siena will be the combination of tradition and innovation, starting with producers who have revived an ancient culture, using techniques such as vinification in terracotta jars, all the way to the demonstration of a digital twin, an AI chatbot that will answer and ask questions about the extraordinary world of wine, which we will test at Borgo Grondaie.
This edition will also focus on climate change, which has garnered increasing attention in recent years. During the 4 days of the event, there will be conferences on the topic, organized by Monte dei Paschi di Siena in collaboration with the University of Siena.
We interviewed Helmut Köcher, founder of the Merano Wine Festival, and Carlo Vischi, Horeca expert and renowned food blogger, for you.
