Urban Trekking Day in Siena
October 31st is the World Urban Trekking Day, and more and more cities in our beautiful Italy have joined in, thus allowing for the promotion of a simple and fun way to visit historic city centers.
Why is it great to participate in Urban Trekking in Siena?
Anyone can do it, regardless of age, and the proposed itineraries are always “themed” and off the beaten tourist path. This allows both tourists and locals to get involved in an experience that is always new and fun.
Have you ever tried Urban Trekking in Siena?
If you didn’t know about it before, I hope that after reading this, you’ll be curious enough to give it a try.
Urban Trekking was born as a form of gentle walking that can be practiced in any season and at any age. It’s ideal for doing alone, but even more fun in a group, following the itineraries suggested by experts to visit cities off the tourist track, focusing on parks, gardens, and, in the case of our Siena, the ancient walls and fountains.
Every year on World Urban Trekking Day, some curious and unusual itineraries are suggested. This year in Siena, a route is proposed that is linked to the “SANE MADNESS” of some of the city’s figures who have made its history.
3 km route
Difficulty: Medium
Duration: Around 2 hours
Departure: From Piazza del Campo – every 20 minutes from 10:40 AM to 4:00 PM (including lunch break), and mini tours for children available
Cost: Free
A fun journey through the city’s alleys, animated by anecdotes and quirks of great artists like Dante, Sodoma, and writer Cecco Angiolieri.
To finish, a walk to the old San Niccolò Asylum because let’s not forget, the theme is the madness of man… although in these figures, it turned into Genius!
We at Borgo Grondaie are lovers of Trekking, and we enjoy participating. If you’re coming to Siena, come visit us!
