Chianti Eco-Marathon: Sport & Wine

The Chianti Eco-Marathon has become a nationally recognized event thanks to the beauty of its routes and the numerous activities organized during the festival. Every year, in mid-October, marathoners participating in the Eco-Marathon have the chance to run through the charming Tuscan countryside, especially in one of the regions renowned for the beauty of its landscapes: Chianti.

Every year, the routes of the Chianti Eco-Marathon are numerous and suitable for everyone:

Ecomaratona

The classic route, recommended for the more trained runners โ€“ length 42 km
There are no major climbs, but the route consists of continuous ups and downs on gentle slopes. The highest point is 627 meters, and the lowest is 206 meters. A fast race, with an average of 30 minutes less compared to a normal race course, which requires good physical preparation. Most of the route is on dirt roads and field paths, passing through the vineyards of the Fattorie di Arceno and Felsina, and a spectacular avenue of cypress trees. The start is at 9:30 AM from CASTELLO DI BROLIO.

Chianti Classico Route โ€“ length 21 km
This route usually starts and finishes in Castelnuovo Berardenga, at the heart of the festival. Being an easy and smooth course without significant climbs, it is suitable for those who want to prepare for an autumn marathon where the clock works as feedback, not dictating the pace per kilometer. The starting point is Castelnuovo Berardenga.

Luca’s Route โ€“ length 13 km
An easy and short route, which doesn’t put much strain on physical performance, but will captivate you with the beauty of the landscape! It is an easy route for everyone, both in terms of terrain and incline: the maximum stretch is 300 meters, reaching up to 700 meters in length with no significant slopes.

If you prefer walking to running, you could join the 10 km Eco-Walk, with a beautiful route through the Chianti countryside.
The starting point is Piazza Marconi in Castelnuovo Berardenga. This route is suitable for anyone used to walking in the city or on the beach and who is willing to take a walk through the beautiful Tuscan countryside, with the support of two refreshment stations and medical assistance. No entry limits and no cost.

For walking enthusiasts… but more challenging, there will be the ARCENO NORDIC WALKING: an 11 km route dedicated exclusively to this sport, which has become very popular here in Tuscany and in many countries.
It starts from the beautiful Castelnuovo Berardenga (SI), along the stunning dirt roads that define the Chianti region, and on the way back to Castelnuovo, you’ll enjoy a sunset over Siena that you will never forget!

The roads of the Chianti Eco-Marathon are endless and suitable for everyone… athletes and non-athletes alike.
There is one with a slower pace called “Emotions through the wineries,” which seems made for food lovers without forgetting the joy of being outdoors. The event is scheduled in Castelnuovo Berardenga (SI), where, starting from the morning, you can choose to follow two 7 km winery tours to discover some of the most prestigious wineries in the Chianti region.
