The Siena Photography Awards, known as the SIPA CONTEST, is an international photography competition held annually, attracting many of the world’s top professional photographers as well as passionate amateurs. This year, the exhibition will be on display in Siena from October 24 to November 29. An unmissable event! One of the most prestigious photography contests worldwide, featuring a selection from 48,000 images submitted by photographers from 161 countries.
Even though it’s only in its seventh edition, the SIPA Contest has already become a true festival, bringing together professional and amateur photographers from around the world to share their passion for this art form.
BUT WHO ARE THE REAL STARS OF THE SIENA PHOTOGRAPHY AWARDS?
Photographers: professionals, amateurs, and students from 161 countries. They are the artists capable of capturing the moment—the unique, unrepeatable instant that makes a photo truly unforgettable.
The contest themes have been diverse over the years, allowing for plenty of room for modern experimentation and unusual subjects.
This year as well, the selection is entrusted to a jury of professional photographers, and unfortunately, due to the COVID emergency, there will be no final award ceremony for the winners of each category.
Visitor safety remains the top priority, which is why the exhibition will be spread across several indoor and outdoor locations.
The main exhibition is located at the Ex Distilleria Lo Stellino, Via Fiorentina 95.

Inside the exhibition, there is also a special open-air display along the streets of Siena’s historic center. It’s a true journey dedicated to urban cities during the isolation caused by the Covid-19 emergency.
The portraits wear a QR code as a face mask covering the mouth, and if you scan the QR code with your smartphone, you’ll see exclusive photographs taken by the artists during the lockdown days in cities around the world.
